Volunteer and Mission Opportunities: Save these dates!

At Grace Community Church, we partner with existing outreach and mission ministries, while also establishing new and relevant programs locally, nationally and internationally.  There are many opportunities for you and your family to get involved in these programs:

Boca Helping Hands: We are scheduled for Boca Helping Hands on Saturday,  April 24th.  If you attended the class where they had you sign the form at the end, you should be fine to work with us.  For those who were not able to attend in February, it does take more volunteers and longer hours, 8:00am to around 1:30pm.  We are still learning our way around the new kitchen so hopefully it will get easier as we get more experience.  The fourth Saturday is always our day to help.  Contact Katy Ross  or call her at 561-395-6517 if you are able to work on that day.

Delray Food Pantry:  We deliver donated food about once each week to the Delray Food Pantry.  The current list of needs is Peanut Butter, Pasta, Spaghetti Sauce, Chili, Tomato sauce, Rice, Canned Meats.  Please keep donating food as the need is great! Food can be dropped off in the basket in the Narthex or the church office.

Family Promise:  Help care for families in transition when Grace Community Church  provides interim housing, meals and fellowship to the Family Promise guests.  Many volunteers are needed to serve as food shoppers, preparers, servers, evening hosts, overnight hosts and a variety of other roles.  The Family Promise outreach program directly benefits families with children from the Boca Raton area who are temporarily without a home.

Gleaning:  Gleaning volunteers are needed several times a year.  For the past three years, volunteers from our church have participated in gleaning.  We have had over 100 volunteers, from toddlers to teenagers to 80 year olds, glean  thousands of pounds of corn and tomatoes.  Our  next gleaning of this season will be  Saturday, April 17th.  We will meet at 7:15am at the church and car pool to the site.  We will be in the fields for about 2-1/2 to 3 hours and be back about 1:00.

The Mission Committee organizes a group of gleaners to pick produce which is then donated to the food kitchen.  You can sign up by contacting Cindy O’Connell at 561-394-9836.  Gleaning is a great way for young and old to participate in outreach.  To sign up please contact Cindy O'Connell

Consider other volunteer and ministry opportunities

Join our Communications Team: Our communications team is looking for volunteers to help ramp up our electronic and web-based communications.  The team is already busy working on new print materials, signs, press releases, radio ads and other ways to share our love of Christ throughout the community.  This includes people that enjoy social networking, working with websites and media, or could help place special event posters around neighborhoods or in local businesses.   For more information, please contact moderator Kim Warne at 561-620-3091 or via email

Parking Lot Greeters: We are seeking volunteers willing to arrive a little early and take one section of our parking lot and welcome people as they come towards the church.  This is a great opportunity to meet new people within the church.  We plan to start November 1st and will continue through April.  Please contact Nick Costanzo at 561-699-7980 for additional information and to volunteer.

Ushers and Greeters: Each Sunday we need four ushers and four greeters at each service.  These volunteers are often the first people you meet when you arrive at church.  A warm welcome makes everyone feel more at home!  Contact the church office 563-395-2811 to volunteer.

Church Office Volunteers: -The office staff especially need your help in the afternoons, from noon until 4p.m.  However hours are flexible to suit your schedule.  All help is appreciated.

Technical Service Support - Sanctuary Computer Operators:  We’re looking for a pool of computer literate volunteers - for both services - to run the slide show and projector on a semi-monthly (every other month) basis.    If you are interested, please contact Aaron Moore at 561-395-2811. Training will be provided.

Presbytery "Barter" Ministry: The Mission Funding and Stewardship Committee has begun a Barter Program to help complete small jobs at churches and service organizations within our presbytery.  If you have a skill you’d like to contribute or are interested in volunteering for a small local “mission trip” please fill out this form or contact the office at 561-395-3811.

Shared Care Volunteers:  Our Shared Care Program Meets Wednesdays from 9:30a.m. to 2:30p.m. at Temple Beth El.  This volunteer mission program for the elderly gives respite for their caregivers. If you can help or know a neighbor or friend who would benefit from the program, please call Ginny Bond at 561-487-6171.
