If you are new to the Boca
Raton area or looking for a relationship with God, we welcome
you! Church Membership at First Presbyterian Church means you
are part of a spirited, friendly family of committed Christians.
We believe that a Christian without a church is like a child
without a family: An Orphan. Therefore, we take church membership
seriously at First Presbyterian Church. Membership is open to
anyone who professes a living faith in Jesus as their Lord and
Savior. And as a Member of First Presbyterian Church, you have
the opportunity to become involved in all areas of the church
including Worship, Music, Membership, Ministry, Mission, and
Education, along with Adult, Teen, and Children activities. Members
in our church strive to share our ministry of faith with those
throughout the community of Boca Raton and worldwide.
To make it convenient
for you, we have condensed our membership class into a one-day
class and luncheon. Here you will learn about the ministry and
programs of First Presbyterian Church and our affiliation with
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We will help you understand what
the church can do for you and how you can be a vital part of
our church's life. Also, you will have a chance to spend time
getting to know the staff, officers and other new members. People
generally join our church through one of three methods: by letter
of transfer from another church of any denomination, by reaffirmation
of faith (for those who are baptized, but do not come by letter
of transfer), or by profession of faith and baptism.
Membership Classes
Being a Christian is about enjoying a loving relationship with Jesus Christ and receiving the transforming power of His grace. It is also about sharing relationships with other Christ-followers who are growing into more devoted disciples and committing themselves to learning, service, fellowship and mission as part of the body of Christ. Many people who are part of the First Presbyterian Church (FPC) family also embrace the opportunity to grow and serve through membership in our church.
What does it mean to be a Christian?
What does it mean to live a “Christian” life?
What does it mean to be a member of FPC?
Our Membership Classes provide an opportunity to explore and understand the claims of Jesus Christ and answer questions about faith and what it means to be a Christ-follower. Often, these questions strike at the most difficult intellectual and personal issues. Our Membership Classes seek to provide that safe and welcoming environment for questioning and learning for those interested in becoming members of FPC or those desiring to learn more about Jesus.
Our Membership Classes are also designed to acquaint you with the various ministries of FPC with the hope that you will find a place where you can be loved and cared for by God’s family. We hope to make becoming a member of FPC more like joining a family, than like joining an institution.
Classes are held three to four times a year and completion of the class is required for membership. Childcare is provided at all new membership classes. In addition to the one day new membership classes as described above, we have extended the scope of our classes to include classes held over three successive Sundays and classes held on Sunday afternoons. The next new member class will be held in the El Rio room on Sunday, April 20th at 12:00p.m.
Please monitor this page and link to News and What’s Coming Soon to stay informed of new membership class formats and schedules.
We look forward to having you join our Church Faith Family! We sincerely hope and pray that if you are looking for a church home you will consider First Presbyterian Church, attend one of our new membership classes, and join our church family. We will be delighted to welcome you to First Presbyterian Church, Boca Raton.
